Morrow Mountain State Park

Morrow Mountain Road (SR 1798) is the only road entering the park. The intersection of Morrow Mountain Road and Valley Drive (SR 1720) is 4 miles from the intersection of NC 24-27 and NC 740 in Albemarle, NC.

Located in Stanly County, this park provides opportunities for hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, horseback riding, picnicking, and camping (can be reserved online, from primitive backcountry sites to vacation cabins). There are over 15 miles of hiking trails. King’s Mountain Point Picnic Area

Off FR 597A on Badin Lake, 15 miles NW of Troy, NC

With picnic sites and accessible fishing piers, this US Forest Service day use recreation area is a great place for group gatherings or a family picnic. Call 910-576-6391 for picnic reservation information. Open 6am-10pm every day.

Low Water Bridge

Low Water Bridge Road in Ophir, west of NC 1134 (Ophir Rd.)

Located just northwest of Ophir, this LandTrust for Central North Carolina property provides public access to the Uwharrie River for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing, and preserves several threatened species of mussels in addition to a large area of riparian habitat and mature mixed forest.
