Jason A. Walser
Jason was born and raised in Statesville and has always had an appreciation for this regionís beauty and diversity. Jason graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BS in Business Administration, and returned to Chapel Hill to obtain a law degree as well. After practicing primarily estate planning and probate law with Linkous and Associates in Hendersonville for just over a year, Jason joined The Land Trust for Central North Carolina in 1999 as the Associate Director for Land Protection. He was promoted to Executive Director in 2001 and has served in that role ever since. He lives with his wife Tracy, five year old son Ian, three year old daughter Autumn, and nine year old dog Ellie in Salisbury near the Catawba College ecological preserve.
Andrew comes to us from the Catawba Lands Conservancy in Charlotte where he worked as their Land Protection Director. His business experiences are bolstered by an MBA he received from UNC Greensboro. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys flyfishing, canoeing, creative writing, and spending time with his wife, Anne, and two-year-old son, Eli.
Uwharrie Conservation Specialist
Crystal began her time at the LandTrust as a Duke University Stanback Intern in Summer 2005. She enjoyed the job so much that she came back to work part-time her last semester of graduate school, and joined on as a full-time staff member in July 2006. A local girl born and raised in Moore County, Crystal has always had a heart for conservation issues in this region. She graduated from Duke University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, and minors in Earth and Ocean Science and in English. In May 2006, she received her Master of Environmental Management from Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences, with a focus on Environmental Health and Security. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing tennis, flyfishing, and traveling.
Barbara Martin Lawther
Director of Development
Barbara is a Salisbury native who moved back from Oklahoma City in 1990. While in Oklahoma, she was involved in fundraising and development as a member of the Oklahoma City Junior League, the Committee of Ballet Oklahoma, and the Greater Oklahoma Hunter-Jumper Horse Show. She received her education at Sacred Heart College and the University of Oklahoma. She recently completed the Duke University Certificate Program in Nonprofit Management. She is active in the Salisbury community, having served on the WaterWorks Visual Arts Center Board of Directors, and as a current member of the Salisbury Community Appearance Commission. Barbara enjoys spending time with her husband, Rivers, her cat, Baxter, and her Bichon, Miss Scarlett.
